Ish couldn't fish

Ish Monroe didn't get to do any fishing on his recent overseas vacation, though he badly wanted to.

The Bassmaster Elite Series angler from California just got back from Italy, where he spent 2 weeks. He was there to serve as best man in the wedding of his younger brother, Dohnnie Gage.

"It was so beautiful over there and the weather seemed perfect for fishing," Monroe said. "I really wanted to get out on the Mediterranean Sea. I love saltwater fishing."

His brother, who's in the Navy, was wed to a lifelong Naples resident. The ceremony was held in an extremely old Catholic church, and was followed by a rousing reception.

"I've been to a lot of receptions over here, but that was something else entirely. There was a karaoke guy and he had a couple of sidekicks, and everybody was drinking and dancing and having a great time. And the scenery was just so beautiful."

He said that what passes for good Italian food in the U.S. doesn't compare to the genuine article.

"Their Italian food is a lot different – it's so much more flavorful. The pizza and the pasta were unbelievable.

"Blondie's in San Francisco was the best pizza I'd ever had, and this stuff blew it away."
