Martin voluntarily withdraws from Elite Series

B.A.S.S. posted a brief article on its website today announcing that veteran Scott Martin has voluntarily withdrawn from the Bassmaster Elite Series. Martin, who'd already been disqualified from the tournament at Lake Okeechobee earlier this season, was under investigation following a protest claiming that he'd entered an agreement to obtain illicit information about the upcoming derby at the Pasquotank River/Albemarle Sound.

Martin, a former FLW Championship winner and FLW Tour Angler of the Year, was in his fifth season on the Elite Series. He qualified for the circuit via the 2020 Bassmaster Opens, with the goal of winning the Bassmaster Classic championship that eluded his father, nine-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year Roland Martin.

He's the second veteran competitor to leave the Elite Series during this season – Matt Herren pulled out after he was also disqualified at Okeechobee.

He posted an Instagram video to present his side of the issue, and that's embedded below.
