Smallie eradication sought at Nova Scotia lake

Wildlife officials in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia are seeking to poison the smallmouth bass population in a tiny body of water called Piper Lake. The lake is at the headwaters of the St. Mary's River system which contains native trout and Atlantic salmon.

The illegally introduced smallmouths were first detected in the lake in 2019. To learn more, click here.
