Vaughan pushes lead to more than 4 1/2 pounds

Wayn Vaughan caught a 14-10 stringer on day 2 of the Potomac River Eastern Toyota Series to give himself a 31-10 total and a lead of more than 4 1/2 pounds with one day remaining.

“I’m being 100 percent truthful when I tell you that catching a limit out there isn’t the easiest thing to do,” Vaughan said. “It’s fishing the toughest I’ve ever seen it fish before. But the weights are actually better than I expected to see, but we’ve had two good days for fishing. We’ve had overcast days with no people around to really speak of. Tomorrow there’s another tournament going on and there were some guys following me around, so we’ll see what happens.”

Here are the totals for the 10 anglers who advanced to the final day:

1. Wayne Vaughan: 31-10
2. James Maupin: 26-14
3. Todd Walters: 26-13
4. Danny Kirk: 25-09
5. Joseph Thompson: 25-05
6. Bryan Schmitt: 24-11
7. Kurt Mitchell: 24-03
8. David Williams: 24-01
9. Michael Hall: 23-14
10. Cody Pike: 23-14
