Surgery sidelines veteran Shaw for last 2 events

Veteran FLW pro Alvin Shaw will sit out the final two events of the 2020 season (this week at the Mississippi River and Aug. 11-14 at Lake Erie) due to gall bladder-removal surgery.

"I will miss, more than I can say, the opportunity to fish and compete," Shaw said in a Facebook post. "Thank you to all my wonderful sponsors, friends and fans who have supported me throughout this season and throughout my career. I am looking forward to getting this obstacle behind me and competing again in 2021!"

The 65-year-old Shaw was 94th on the Pro Circuit points list through four events this year. He posted his best finish of the season (47th) in the previous outing at Lake Chickamauga.

He's a two-time winner at FLW's top level (2008 at the Detroit River and 2005 at Wheeler Lake).
