Transition under way at California Delta

Transition under way at California Delta

> What: Western FLW Series
> Where: California Delta
> When: Thursday through Saturday (Sept. 26-28)
> At stake: $85,000, including a new Ranger Z518L boat with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard
> Expected field size: 150 boats
> What they’re saying: “The fish are starting to transition into their fall patterns, which could make the fishing a little bit tougher than usual,” said 2015 Cal Delta Western Series winner Wade Curtiss. “Most guys will either hunker down and fish one area all day – flooded islands like Franks Tract, Mandeville or Mildred – or they’ll run the tide. I think we’ll see a lot of topwater baits, reaction baits – swimbaits, swimjigs, crankbaits – and a lot of flipping.A lot of bigger bites will come punching, too."
> Last Western FLW Series at the California Delta: Sept. 27-29, 2018
> Winner: Gregory Troughton (60-02)
