NASCAR race to honor Houston

Bass-fishing legend Jimmy Houston will give the command to start engines this Saturday at Kentucky Speedway as grand marshal of the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400.

“I got to drive the pace car a couple of years ago, so this is another bucket list item I can check off," he said. "It is a special honor to me because not only do I have a lot of NASCAR drivers that are friends of mine, but I know that a tremendous amount of NASCAR fans are also fishing fans.”

Houston, who's in his 53rd year of professional fishing and 42nd year as a TV show host, is a two-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year. He's competed in 15 Bassmaster Classics and one Forrest Wood Cup.
