Hartman misses start of practice with back issue

Elite Series angler Jamie Hartman is back home after being hospitalized in Russellville, Ark., earlier today following a sciatic nerve flare up prevented him from being able to stand or sit, according to a post on his Facebook page (see below).

Practice for the Mississippi River Elite Series in La Crosse, Wis., began today and Hartman is hopeful to get there for the start of the tournament on Thursday.

He plans to rest today and hopefully hit the road tomorrow for the 12-hour drive to Wisconsin. A couple friends will help him pack his boat and truck and he'll have someone to help with the driving so he can sprawl out in the back seat.

"It's probably not the smartest thing to do, but my worst fear is to wake up Thursday morning and realize I can walk fine and I could have been fishing," Hartman wrote in a text message.
