MLF sees ratings spike on Outdoor Channel, WFN

Major League Fishing and Major League Fishing All Angles ranked as Outdoor Channel's two top-rated series during the first quarter of 2018, the network said today in a release.

MLF saw an 8 percent increase in households and a 22 percent jump among men in the 25- to 54-year-old age bracket compared to 2017.

“Major League Fishing’s unique format has elevated the excitement of bass fishing and is revolutionizing the sport,” said Outdoor Sportsman Group President and CEO Jim Liberatore. “This revolution is changing the way people enjoy bass fishing events and certainly has captured the passions of our audiences.”

World Fishing Network also got a boost from MLF broadcasts as the series accounted for seven of the 10 top-rated telecasts on the network. It was also the network's top-rated telecast for 11 straight weeks during the first quarter.

WFN saw a 7 percent rise in weekday daytime audience, a 21 percent jump during primetime and a 16 percent uptick on weekends.

“This year, like last year, we helped Outdoor Channel have significant ratings success in the first quarter of the year with our top programming: Major League Fishing,” said Major League Fishing General Manager Jim Wilburn. “It is also nice to see our sister channel World Fishing Network garner ratings and audience success as a result of our programming. We couldn’t be happier and more privileged to be able to bring viewers the great sport of fishing week-in and week-out on our Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks.”
