MLF Challenge Cup concludes today

Major League Fishing is wrapping up its seventh season of filming today with the championship round of the 2018 Lucas Oil Challenge Cup in the waters surrounding Natchez, Miss., and Vidalia, La.

Competition began last Monday with 27 of the nation’s top anglers. The field was reduced to eight for the final day of competition.

“This area was hand-selected and suggested by one of our trusted anglers, who came to fish the area this time last year," said Randy White, MLF executive producer. “We look for any opportunity we can to take our anglers to a new and challenging body of water, and we think that’s what we’ve done in this location this week.”

The Major League Fishing Cup events filmed this week will begin airing in May 2018 on Outdoor Channel and will re-air at the end of the year on Discovery. This is MLF’s first time in its six-year history to fish in Mississippi and the second visit to Louisiana (the 2015 Challenge Cup was filmed in Shreveport, where. Edwin Evers won).

Anglers who competed this week were: Louisiana native Greg Hackney, Tim Horton, Boyd Duckett, Aaron Martens, Alton Jones, Andy Montgomery, Bobby Lane, Brent Chapman, Brent Ehrler, Dean Rojas, Denny Brauer, Edwin Evers, Gary Klein, Ish Monroe, Jeff Kriet, Kelly Jordon, Kevin VanDam, Mark Davis, Mike Iaconelli, Mike McClelland, Shaw Grigsby, Skeet Reese, Takahiro Omori, Jason Christie, Jacob Wheeler and Tommy Biffle. One GEICO Select angler will also compete, but his name was not disclosed so as not to reveal results of previous events.
