Elite Series going rate? At least $85K

According to a report published Monday in the Alexander City (Ala.) Outlook, the Alexander City City Council recently approved an $85,000 expenditure, which the newspaper said was earmarked to cover the costs associated with hosting the 2018 Elite Series season opener at Lake Martin (Feb. 8-11).

While B.A.S.S. does not disclose what host cities are required to pay to bring any of the organization's events to town, Alexander City Chamber of Commerce president Ed Collari told the Outlook that he looks at it like an investment.

“There might have been a little sticker shock, but I did my research on the economic impact and finding out if it’s worth it,” Collari said. “In talking to other communities, I found that yes, this is a huge win for us. In the grand scheme, that’s a small amount to pay for what you’re going to get in return.”
