FLW sticks with 7 events in ’18; no Beaver

FLW announced its 2018 Tour schedule today at ICAST and the one highlight was the absence of a lake that had become a mainstay on the docket.

The seven-event schedule includes two Florida tournaments, two in Kentucky, two deep-water spotted bass lakes and a northern fishery. The most notable change is the absence of Beaver Lake, which has hosted a Tour event 12 of the last 13 years.

Here’s a look at the 2018 FLW Tour schedule:

> Jan. 25-28: Lake Okeechobee (Clewiston, Fla.)
> Feb. 22-25: Harris Chain of Lakes (Leesburg, Fla.)
> March 8-11: Lake Lanier (Gainesville, Ga.)
> April 12-15: Lake Cumberland (Burnside, Ky.)
> April 26-29: Smith Lake (Jasper, Ala.)
> May 17-20: Kentucky Lake (Gilbertsville, Ky.)
> June 28-July 1: Lake St. Clair (Detroit, Mich.)
> Forrest Wood Cup (TBA)

Each of the final three regular-season events (Smith Lake, Kentucky Lake and Lake St. Clair) will overlap with Bassmaster Elite Series tournaments, meaning it will once again be impossible for pros to compete on both major circuits. The Elite Series will be at Grand Lake, the Toyota Texas Fest (site to be announced) and Lake Oahe, respectively, on those dates.
