Elite Series angler Bradley Roy is teaming up with USA Cares, a nonprofit organization supporting military families in crisis to present the Stars & Stripes Bass Open at Herrington Lake in Kentucky.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 (tournament hours are 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.) and will launch from Chimney Rock Marina (250 Chimney Rock Road, Harrodsburg, Ky.).

“We set up two tournaments this year to raise some money for USA Cares, because the fishing industry has been huge for military members," Roy said. "Fishermen have big hearts, a soft spot for helping veterans. We thought what better way to help than to put on a great tournament for some fishermen and raise some money for USA Cares at the same time.”

A $2,500 prize is guaranteed to first place. Additional payouts will be determined for every 10 boats registered. All tournament proceeds will benefit USA Cares and its veteran and military family assistance programs. Early registration costs $80, increasing to $90 during the week of the tournament. All participants are encouraged to pre-register online at www.starsandstripes17.eventbrite.com or in person at Angler's Outpost & Marine located at 96 South Camp Dick Road in Lancaster, Ky.

Major sponsors for the tournament include: Angler’s Outpost and Marine, CJ Michel, Neat Trucking, Cabin Creek Baits, D&L Tackle, Danny Ayres Realty, Power Pole, and First Southern National Bank. Additional support provided by Mud Hole, Cabela’s, Triton Boats, Mercury, Deka, and Lowrance.
