Report: Scott's property sold to Ala. attorney

According to a report in today’s Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser, B.A.S.S. founder Ray Scott has found a buyer for his 200-acre fishing retreat.

The newspaper reported that Andy Birchfield, an attorney with the Montgomery law firm of Beasley Allen, is the buyer for Legacy Lakes. No purchase price was reported, but the property, which includes three stocked and privately-managed lakes along with 80 acres of deer hunting land, was originally listed for $3.4 million.

Greenville, S.C.-based National Land Realty was handling the listing for the property in Pintlala, Ala.

“It’s tough to leave, but I won’t be far away,” Scott said in a statement, according to the paper. “I’ll be across the hill on a secluded side of the property in a small cottage on an old 18-acre lake. It’s perfect for me and my wife and our two dogs.

“Plus, I think I’ve gained an outstanding neighbor, and if he wants, I’ll show him a few honey holes.”
