Triton replacing select 21 TrX hulls due to cracking

Triton has launched a replacement program for the hulls of its flagship 21 TrX bass boat that were produced over a 1-year period beginning with the model's rollout in June 2013. The company says the issue, which has resulted in cracking in the area of the rod lockers, was caused by the use of a different lamination schedule than previous 21-foot Triton models.

According to the company, it was unaware that the different lamination schedule was being utilized and the problem was identified and corrected in June 2014.

The affected boats have been identified by hull number and letters have been sent to the purchasers. Owners have been instructed to have their boats inspected by an authorized Triton dealer to determine whether the cracking is present and if the boat can continue to be operated. If cracks are evident, the boat should be taken out of operation and replacement will be prioritized.

Hulls not showing cracks can be operated, but those will also be replaced. Owners will be instructed what to look for during the period before their replacement hull arrives.

BassFan requested an interview with the company regarding the replacement program, but was instead referred to an FAQ page. The company's response to question No. 13, How long will it take to receive my replacement 21 TrX?, is not definitive. It reads: "Once you have taken your 21 TrX into your Authorized Triton Dealer for inspection, the Dealer will order your 21 TrX replacement boat and Triton will add your original 21 TrX to the Boat Replacement Program schedule. Once the new replacement 21 TrX has been completed, your Dealer and Triton Boats will let you know when the transfer process for your boat is scheduled at your Dealer."
