LIVETARGET lands Martin

Scott Martin, the 2015 FLW Tour Angler of the Year, has agreed to a multi-year sponsorship agreement with LIVETARGET, BassFan has learned.

Martin was at the company’s headquarters in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, on Tuesday to make the deal official. Martin will be the first FLW Tour angler on the LIVETARGET bass pro staff, joining Elite Series competitors David Walker and Stephen Browning.

“I’ve been paying attention to LIVETARGET over the last several years and I’ve been impressed with how they kept winning Best of Show awards at ICAST,” Martin told BassFan. “I’ve been real impressed with what they’ve been doing and their consistency of bringing new products to market. I think I can be a big asset not only with my TV show and social media reach, but also on the FLW Tour. I’m fishing good and I think it’ll be a great opportunity for me to showcase their baits.”

Martin, who also has a deep passion for saltwater fishing and hosts the Scott Martin Challenge TV show, said one of LIVETARGET’s newest award-winning creations played a role in bringing the two sides together.

“They have a good group of pro staffers with David and Stephen and there’s been a consistent relationship there,” he said. “I wanted to get involved. Their BaitBall technology got me excited, but that Hollow Body Sunfish [which won best new soft bait at ICAST this year] was the icing on the cake.”

Gary Abernethy, LIVETARGET’s marketing manager, said the opportunity to add an angler of Martin’s ilk to the mix was one the company couldn’t pass up.

“Scott has the combination of having a marquee tournament résumé and a robust media footprint,” Abernethy said. “While much of the interest in Scott in related to the bass market, he can help us make an impact on the multi-species side with his TV show since LIVETARGET is truly a multi-species company. To have an angler join the pro staff that also fishes saltwater fits our company profile because we’re not just a bass lure company.”
