Brad Knight said the Forrest Wood Cup made an impromptu visit to the Bass Pro Shops store in Little Rock, Ark., today after he stopped to get a new pair of sunglasses.
Knight said his sunglasses got broken in the midst of the celebration Sunday after he won the Cup at Lake Ouachita. He said people recognized his truck and boat on the highway Monday and followed him to Bass Pro Shops where they asked to take pictures with him and the trophy.
“It was crazy,” he said. “There I was loading the Forrest Wood Cup into a buggy to take into the store because people wanted to see it and take pictures with it.”
He said the response in Lancing, Tenn., is expected to be just as intense.
“My hometown is about to shut down. They’re talking about lining the streets,” he said. “They want to know when we’re going to be home. They’ve already got shirts ordered and signs made. It’s just so humbling to be a representative of the bass fishing community to people now.”
