Rick Pierce, president of Bass Cat boats, is in Asia this week as the company works to expand its international market. On Monday he got the opportunity to fish Japan's renowned Lake Biwa, which produced Manabu Kurita's 22-pound-plus largemouth in 2010.
He fished with Sugito Sencho of GetNet Bait Company. They caught numerous small bass, along with three that were pushing 5 pounds.
Even on a Monday, the lake was extremely crowded.
"We fished the south end and the pressure was honestly beyond any weekday I've ever seen on the water," Pierce said. "There were probably 300 to 400 bass boats on the south end."
A new Bass Cat dealership that will sit on the shore of Biwa is presently under construction. Pierce will also make a stop in South Korea before returning home to Arkansas.
