Ardent adds Gliss line to offerings

Ardent Tackle and German-based World Fishing Tackle today announced the introduction of Gliss, a new fishing line that doesn't fall into the other three traditional categories.

Gliss is produced through a breakthrough process that involves the extrusion of High Modaulus Poly Ethelyne fibers that WFT designed during a 5-year process. Gliss' performance characteristics are said to be superlative to the three existing forms of line – monofilament, fluorocarbon and braid.

Among Gliss' characteristics are:

> Soft form provides superior castability and distance
> Zero stretch produces incredible sensitivity
> Zero line twist provides greater line management
> High strength-to-diameter ratio results in strength comparable to braid
> Retail price 15 to 20 percent lower than braid.

After successful testing and sales results in Europe, Gliss was performance-tested for the North American market by Elite Series and FLW Tour anglers, including Fred Roumbanis.

“I caught fish with Gliss that I could not have caught with other line,” said Roumbanis. "The softness of the line produces superior castability resulting in increased distance I can’t get with braid. The zero stretch of Gliss produces strike sensitivity not achievable in mono or fluorocarbon and with the incredible strength to diameter ratio Gliss is quiet and manageable at strength levels close to braid.

"After my experience with Gliss, I approached Ardent and will be the first Elite Series angler to fish with Gliss. I am convinced this is a competitive advantage for me until the other pros switch to Gliss."

Gliss will be available in four colors including green, yellow, pink, and translucent. It'll be sold in five different pound-test versions: 8-pound (.004" diam.), 12-pound (.005"), 18-pound (.006"), 24-pound (.007") and 40-pound (.01"). Spools will be sold in 150-yard, 300-yard and 1,500-yard sizes.
