Vortex at Texoma

The heavy rains that caused flooding in Oklahoma in Texas last month have kept dam operators with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers quite busy.

Earlier this month, the Corps released a video, shot from a drone, of what happened when water started to be released from Lake Texoma through the Denison Dam and into the Red River. A vortex approximately 8 feet in diameter was created. It would've easily swallowed up a full-sized boat.

While the video was shot about 3 weeks ago, the lake remains 25 feet above full pool levels.
