BASSFest field set at 124; Velvick out

B.A.S.S. today announced the field for next month's BASSFest tournament Kentucky Lake will be 124 anglers – 111 Elite Series pros and 13 registrants from the Opens.

The turnout from the Open division is down from 33 who participated in last year's inaugural BASSFest at Lake Chickamauga. Open competitors had to pay a $6,000 entry fee for this year's BASSFest, compared to $5,000 last year.

One notable change about the 5-day tournament, set to run June 3-7, is that Elite Series anglers will earn Angler of the Year points. Last year, no points were awarded during BASSFest.

Also, Byron Velvick will not compete at Kentucky Lake as he continues to recover from a back injury suffered at the Sacramento River Elite Series.
