Arkansas angler claims TBF crown

Shawn Gordon of Russellville, Ark. caught an 18-10 bag Saturday to win the TBF National Championship on Grand Lake with a 3-day total of 50-02. For his victory, Gordon earned the $100,000 “Living The Dream” prize package and a new Ranger Z518 boat.

“All of the feelings are a lot to take in right now,” he said. “This win means I can fish in the Forrest Wood Cup, which is really special."

Gordon said he used an unnamed off-white-colored square-bill crankbait in the pockets and along the points, and switched to a green pumpkin-colored YUM Christie Craw for sight-fishing.

The “Living the Dream” package includes use of a wrapped Ranger boat powered by Evinrude as well as a tow vehicle, fully paid entry fees into the 2016 FLW Tour, a cash award and automatic berths into the 2015 BFL All-American and the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup.

Here are the totals for the Top 7:

1. Shawn Gordon: 50-02
2. Sam Heckman: 45-10
3. Brian LaClair: 40-09
4. Mark Lundgren: 36-14
5. Curtis Richardson: 34-00
6. Nicholas Smyers: 27-04
7. Mark Maderos: 25-14
