Kilgore remains on top at Smith

David Kilgore held onto his lead today at the Smith Lake Bassmaster Southern Open in his home state of Alabama, catching a 17-15 stringer to give himself a 2-day toal of 37-14.

“The sun helped me a lot today,” who's vying for his second straight Bassmaster Classic berth via an Open victory. “It was just what I wanted. I’m super-psyched for tomorrow. I’ll sleep well tonight.”

Kilgore leads his friend Todd Auten by a little more than 3 pounds. Although the two anglers are sharing information, Kilgore is catching mainly largemouth bass while Auten has weighed only spotted bass.
