Kilgore remains on top at Smith

David Kilgore held onto his lead today at the Smith Lake Bassmaster Southern Open in his home state of Alabama, catching a 17-15 stringer to give himself a 2-day toal of 37-14.

The sun helped me a lot today, who's vying for his second straight Bassmaster Classic berth via an Open victory. It was just what I wanted. Im super-psyched for tomorrow. Ill sleep well tonight.

Kilgore leads his friend Todd Auten by a little more than 3 pounds. Although the two anglers are sharing information, Kilgore is catching mainly largemouth bass while Auten has weighed only spotted bass.

Jordan Wiggins made the biggest move today, leaping from 14th to 3rd with a 19-09 bag the second-heaviest of the tournament.
