One of BassFan's sister publications, Game & Fish/Sportsman magazines, recently released the results of its annual Readers' Choice survey. More than 2,000 readers and online visitors contributed in the bass-related categories.
Seven-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year and four-time Bassmaster Classic winner Kevin VanDam was the overwhelming choice for favorite tour pro, garnering 69.1 percent of the vote. Skeet Reese was 2nd with 9.8 percent and Brandon Palaniuk was 3rd with 9.2 percent.
“He’s the best at figuring out conditions, baits and how to win,” said voter Grant Lehman of VanDam.
Added Kyle Cortiana of Oklahoma: “I like all of these guys. Jason Christie is from my home state and an awesome person of character. I love watching Brandon because I believe he will be the next VanDam. However VanDam is still the one to watch and the one who will hold all the records.”
Game & Fish/Sportsman had asked manufacturers to submit new gear nominees in 28 categories, from rods and reels to raingear and sunglasses. To be considered “new,” gear must have been introduced in the last 3 years. The magazine then queried a sampling of subscribers and e-newsletter recipients to determine favorite picks.
