Former FLW Tour Angler of the Year and 2011 Forrest Wood Cup winner Scott Martin has joined the pro staff of Favorite Fishing and will utilize the company’s rods and reels in Tour events this season.
“For me as a tournament angler, durability and balance and sensitivity are must haves and I’ve been very satisfied with what I’ve fished with from those standpoints with Favorite,” Martin said. “I’m very impressed with the overall lineup. There’s a lot to choose from, so that gives me an opportunity to fine tune some techniques with some of their specialty rods.”
Martin was impressed with how the new rods performed at the FLW Tour season opener at Sam Rayburn Reservoir last week. The first fish he put in his livewell on day 1 was a 9-pound, 12-ounce brute caught on a spinning rod. Martin said Favorite’s popularity with young anglers was also part of the reason he was attracted to the company.
“For me, I want to support the brands that are supporting the next generation and that’s what Favorite is doing,” he said. “You can see how fast our sport is growing because of companies like Favorite that are marketing to that generation.”
