Brown wins Seminole Rayovac

Local ace Clint Brown weighed an 18-03 sack on Saturday to win the Lake Seminole Southeastern Rayovac with a 3-day total of 52-11.

Brown, who earned $40,000 for the victory, primarily sight-fished on days 1 and 2, but had exhausted his supply of visible spawners by the final day.

“Today, I went to an area where I had gotten one bite in practice,” he said. “I hadn’t seen any other anglers fishing it throughout the week. I went to the back of a pocket that had a lot of shad and managed to catch eight keepers on a shad-colored Dirty Jigs swimjig.

“I had a decent five-bass limit, but I had two small fish. In the last hour of the day I had a hunch to switch things up and I ended up catching my two biggest fish of the day on a chartreuse and white half-ounce buzzbait. Sometimes you just have to trust your instinct and hope you make the right decision. I did today, and to get the win on my home lake is just awesome.”

Details of his winning pattern will be published this week.
