17 1/2-pounder caught in Georgia

Keith Watkins, of Douglasville, Ga., celebrated his 51st birthday on Monday by catching the biggest bass caught in the state of Georgia since 1987.

According to a story on the Georgia Outdoor News website, Watkins caught a 17-pound, 9.6-ounce largemouth while fishing a lake in Coweta County with a friend on Monday afternoon. It is reportedly the fourth-largest bass to ever be caught in Georgia.

Watkins caught the behemoth on a green-pumpkin Zoom Trick Worm rigged on a 3/8-ounce Gambler Giggy Head using 12-pound line on a spinning combo. The fish measured 33 inches long and had a girth of 28 inches.
