Additional layoffs at Brunswick brands

The New Bern (N.C.) Sun Journal reported Thursday that 40 more employees at the Hatteras and CABO Yachts plant in New Bern were informed their positions were being eliminated.

The layoffs come on the heels of a Jan. 3 announcement that 105 workers had been let go after Brunswick Corporation announced plans to sell the two brands, which specialize in high-end luxury yachts and saltwater fishing boats.

Presently, about 390 people are employed at the plant, which once had a workforce approaching 1,400.
