Open: Mississippi Slugfest?

Open: Mississippi Slugfest?

> What: Bassmaster Central Open
> Where: Ross Barnett Reservoir
> When: Thursday through Saturday (March 1-3)
> At stake: Cash prizes (winner receives boat/motor package and berth in Open Championship)
> Expected field size: 180 boats
> What they’re saying: “The tournament is setting up to be a slugfest and in the best of ways,” said Mississippi native Brock Mosley, an Elite Series angler who will be in the field. “Rarely in February do we have 80-degree days that make it more like springtime fishing conditions right now. The lake is fishing really well from end to end, and the largemouth already are in pre-spawn patterns.

“Everyone will be able to choose what technique best suits their style of fishing, it’s just that good right now. Plus, the lake should fish really well from end to end.”

> Last Open at Ross Barnett: March 12-44, 2015
> Winner: Gene Bishop (55-14)
