Clear Lake record worth $10K

If someone catches the next Clear Lake record largemouth in an upcoming team tournament, it'll be worth an extra $10,000.

According to a report in the Lake County Record Bee, the Lake County Chamber of Commerce is prepared to cut a check for $10,000 to the team that breaks the record if the fish is caught in the Clear Lake Team Bass Tournament, scheduled for March 17-18.

The current record of 17.52 pounds has stood for nearly 28 years.

According to Melissa Fulton, CEO of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, the bass must be caught by a team participating in the tournament and caught during the official tournament hours. It must be identified as a largemouth bass and weighed in at the official weigh-in site of the tournament. In addition, the team that catches the record fish must successfully pass a polygraph (lie-detector) test.

The entry fee for the tournament is $200 per team. More details can be found at www.lakecochamber.com.
