Tharp will throw Sufix

Elite Series competitor Randall Tharp has added Sufix fishing line to his stable of sponsors hailing from under the Rapala VMC umbrella.

“Your line is one of the most critical links between success and failure in fishing,” Tharp said. “It’s one of the most crucial pieces to the puzzle. I mean, you can have the best lure or hook in the world, you can have the best rod and reel in the world, but if you don’t put the right line on, the rest of that stuff is useless. It all has to work together.”

Tharp, who already represented Rapala lures and VMC hooks and tackle, said adding Sufix line felt like the right move.

“I’ve got another great tool now that’s going to give me an advantage,” he said. “On the Elite Series, we’re always trying to be on the cutting edge of technology and line is something that over the last 10 or 15 years has really evolved and changed a lot – not only in braid, but in our monofilaments and fluorocarbons as well.”

Rapala brands Promotions Manager Dan Quinn said he's enjoyed working with Tharp the last few years on the Rapala and VMC pro staffs.

“Randall has proven himself and his value to what he brings to the table with the other brands, so it was an easy transition to add Sufix in,” Quinn said. “He’s one of the best – on and off the water – works hard, and is a real asset to the company. His previous confidence with Sufix 832 makes it even easier.”

Here's a brief rundown of what Sufix products Tharp prefers in different situations:

> Flipping/pitching: Sufix 832 Advanced Superline braid
> Cranking: 10-pound Sufix Castable Invisiline 100% Fluorocarbon (deep-running baits and some square-bills)
> Vibrating jigs: 17- to 20-pound Sufix fluoro.
> Finesse: 8- or 10-pound 832 Advanced main line (ghost) with a long leader of 6- to 10-pound-test Sufix fluoro for smallmouth; 10-pound braid tied with a 10-pound leader for largemouth.
