Californian Aaron Britt set a brisk pace on day 1 of the Clear Lake Western Rayovac Series with a 29-00 stringer that gave him a 9-ounce lead over fellow Golden Stater Dan Sweat, who caught 28-07.
Sixteen anglers on the pro side cracked the 20-pound mark, including six 24-plus pound sacks, on the opening day despite tough conditions. Tour pros Ish Monroe (10th) and Jared Lintner (15th, tie) were among the group that caught 20-plus.
