Report: Work at Hartwell Classic site on schedule

According to a report published in the Anderson (S.C.) Independent Mail, the $4.1 million project at Green Pond Landing on the eastern shore of Lake Hartwell is going as scheduled as the region prepares for the 2015 Bassmaster Classic.

A new ramp has been installed at Green Pond Landing where 168 parking spaces for trailers and 100 more for visitors have been added just south of Highway 24 as it will serve as the launch facility for next year's Classic, slated for Feb. 20-22, 2015.

According to Matt Schell, manager of the Anderson County Parks Department, some grading, paving and utilities work are among the remaining jobs to be completed.

"We have the entire ramp in place now," Schell told the newspaper. "We're going to hit our Dec. 1 deadline; I don't think anything will keep us from that."
