According to a report on AL.com, the Tennessee Valley Authority announced it will fund weed control initiatives on Lake Guntersville for the next three years, then cede control of the issue in 2019 to a new local Aquatic Stakeholder Group that will work with a new Alabama Board for Aquatic Plant Management on strategies to find permanent funding solutions.
“We are actively working to develop a long-term plan where local communities will contribute to the cost of this program that is so critical to our economy and the preservation of our lake,” state Rep. Wes Long (R-Guntersville) said in a TVA statement.
