Reed: PAA schedule will be summer-fall affair

Matt Reed, a Texas Bassmaster Elite Series pro who serves as president of the Professional Anglers Association (PAA), said this week that the organization is still putting the final touches on its 2014 PAA Tournament Series schedule. He said the four-event slate will get under way during the summer and conclude in the fall.

The organization avoided scheduling springtime events this year because the tour-level schedule is so tightly packed during that timeframe. Also, with the Toyota Texas Bass Classic having been moved from October to May, there was no rush to have the PAA events in the books by September.

He said the loss of Bass Pro Shops as the title sponsor has been a big hurdle to overcome, but will not be the death knell for this year's circuit that some had feared.

"We're going to be okay," he said. "That situation has been a battle, but we're still working on some other stuff. That one lump sum (of sponsorship money) we're not sure is going to happen, but it's definitely not the end of the world."
